From the gesture of welcoming well, Hospedaria was born, a form of rural hospitality set within the Algarve, where the senses sharpen and time takes on a different pace.
In this project by Atelier RUA, the original structure was restored and reinterpreted in continuity with what already existed. Here, the past is not decoration, it is foundation.
Our historyAt the crossroads between the mountains and the sea, in the heart of the Algarve barrocal, lies Hospedaria. From this point of departure, in Sítio da Cumeada, some of the eastern Algarve’s most compelling destinations unfold. Just 4 kilometres away, the Ria Formosa traces its contours to the rhythm of wind and tides.
Nearby, the iconic village of Cacela Velha leads to quiet, almost hidden beaches. Further on, Tavira holds centuries of history within its streets and narrow alleys. Here, the Algarve is ripe fruit on the table. Simple, but deliciously good.
The region
The suites unfold through the various spaces.
Inside the main house, the Inside Suites retain the original character, with reed ceilings, lime-washed walls, and a more intimate atmosphere.
On the other hand, the Outside Suites stand as independent volumes connected by walls and private patios, offering greater seclusion and a closer dialogue with the outdoors.
The suitesThe outdoors at Hospedaria flows as a natural extension of the interior, creating a continuous experience. Between the garden’s shaded areas and sunlit moments by the pool, a sense of calm settles in, with no need to go anywhere else.
Garden & Pool
The day begins with an à la carte breakfast, prepared daily with what the season offers. Throughout the afternoon, the poolside menu follows the rhythm of the swims.
In the evening, the table focuses on what is typical and Portuguese. A fixed, full menu, adapted to allergies and dietary restrictions, translates into a direct, precise cuisine rooted in the territory and its origins.

Between land and water, there is a world to explore. Discover the Ria Formosa Natural Park on horseback, by bicycle, jeep, or vintage Vespa. For slower moments, Hospedaria suggests a wine tasting, a curated picnic, a yoga session, or an in-room massage.
Each activity is designed to integrate seamlessly into the stay and adapt to each guest’s pace.
